The Centurion's Saving Faith

Apr 13, 2025    Aaron Russo

Main idea: Jesus the King embraces outsiders and enemies who put their faith in Him.

I. The centurion's faith

Three features of saving faith:

a. It sees things as they are.

i. Yahweh is God.

ii. People are precious.

iii. Jesus is King.

(Heb. 11:1; Eph. 2:9)

b. It trusts that Jesus cares.

(Luke 18:8)

c. It submits to Jesus' rule.

(Isa. 29:13-14)

II. Jesus' response

a. Faith in Jesus is the narrow gate to life.

b. God gives faith without partiality.

(Isa. 25:6-7; 1 Cor. 3:15)

-Psalm 68

Questions to consider:

- What are your most urgent needs? What does it look like for you to trust the care of Jesus?

- What role does the church play in Jesus caring for you?

- How do your challenging or painful circumstances tempt you to respond out of pride, anxiety, or selfishness? Confess to Him, and ask Him to provide, trusting that He cares for you in the midst of suffering.
