Christ Received and Christ The Reward
Main Idea: All service done for even the least of Jesus' disciples is done unto Christ Himself- and will surely be rewarded.
1. To receive a disciple is to receive Christ. (v. 40)
2. Those who serve fellow servants of Christ share in their mission and rewards. (v. 41-42)
3. No act of service, however small, is forgotten by God. His reward is certain. (v. 42b)
Questions for Prayer, Meditation, Discussion, and Application:
- Who are some "little ones" (low-status or unnoticed disciples) in your life that you might be overlooking =? How can you serve them as if you were serving Christ Himself?
- How might your view of "reward" be too tied to earthly status or recognition? What does it look like to seek the reward of Christ instead of the praise of people?
- What is one concrete way you can "hold the ropes" this week (and beyond!) -whether by supporting a missionary, serving your church, or caring for another believer?
