The Church, the Gates, and the Keys

Main Idea: The church is Jesus’ engine of salvation for the world, and he is unstoppable.

1. Jesus builds his church on the testimony of his apostles (his WORD).

2. The church is the assembly of the death-proof.

3. The church wields a heavenly authority as earthly representatives of Christ.

·  How does a church ensure that it is being built by Christ and not by human wisdom or leadership?  How is our church (including yourself) doing at yielding to Jesus’ building plans?  

·  How often do you meditate on being death-proof for eternity?  Are you ready to face death knowing that it cannot prevail against Christ’s people?

·  How can the church exercise authority humbly and faithfully without becoming either passive about sin or controlling?
