Rescue At Sea

Main Idea:  Jesus, our sovereign and omnipotent God, preserves and protects his disciples from failures of faith.

Intro: “…they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened…” (Mark 6:52)

Jesus rescues his disciples…

I.       … from ERROR (22–23). 

II.     …from FEAR (24–27).

III.    …from DOUBT (28–36).

Questions for personal reflection and group discussion: 

·  Can you recall a time when Jesus has rescued you from error?  Are there areas of life where you are more attentive to agenda of “the crowd” than to Jesus himself?

·  What makes you most afraid?  What promises of God can you rehearse to remind you that he is with you, even when he seems distant?

·  When your faith fails and you sin, do you wallow in guilt, or do you immediately cry out in repentance?  Do you ever worry that your failure of faith will keep him from immediate and unconditional forgiveness? (Hint: It won’t!)
